How It Works
ALTIC FR PUTTY 010 is based on intumescent coating technology, which activates when exposed to high temperatures (around 200°C). Upon heating, the coating expands to form a thick, insulating char layer that performs the following functions:
-
Thermal Insulation: Prevents heat transfer to the substrate, keeping the steel temperature below critical failure points.
-
Oxygen Barrier: The char layer blocks oxygen supply, suppressing combustion.
-
Non-Conductive Protection: Minimizes heat conduction across surfaces.
-
Smoke and Flame Suppression: Reduces smoke and toxic emissions, ensuring safer evacuation during fire incidents.
This reactive insulation mechanism effectively slows down the fire spread, giving occupants and responders valuable time to manage emergencies.
Application Process
1. Surface Preparation
-
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust, grease, or contaminants.
-
For metal surfaces, apply ALTIC FR Primer (solvent-based) for better adhesion.
-
For cement walls, use ALTIC FR Primer (water-based).
2. Putty Application
-
Apply two coats of ALTIC FR PUTTY 010 with a four-hour interval between coats.
-
Maintain a uniform layer thickness for consistent fire resistance.
-
For humid or high-moisture environments, apply two coats of ALTIC FR Topcoat to extend coating life and surface durability.
3. Equipment Settings (Airless Spray Recommended):
-
Tip Size: 75–100
-
Pressure: 4000 psi
-
Fan Angle: 50°–70°
-
Hose Diameter: 40 mm
-
Max Hose Length: 100 meters
4. Overcoating Times:
Depending on temperature and humidity:
-
Thin Coat (0.3 mm WFT): 4–8 hours
-
Medium Coat (0.6 mm WFT): 6–12 hours
-
Thick Coat (1.2 mm WFT): 10–18 hours
Ensure the previous layer is fully dry before re-coating.
Storage & Handling
